HEALTHY KIDS: SUMMERTIME!
By Rhenelle Mc Sween-Navarro, Health Program Supervisor
Summer is here, which means longer days, more sunshine, and plenty of opportunities for kids to move, play, create, and make memories! It’s the perfect season for families to focus on staying active, building healthy habits, and enjoying all the fun that summer has to offer while staying safe in the Florida heat.
From bike rides and playground adventures to neighborhood walks, splash pads, and trying new hobbies, summer is a great time for kids to stay moving and connected. Along with all the fun, it’s important to remember the basics: drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, take breaks from the heat, and make time to rest and recharge.
At Healthy St. Pete, we’re excited to help families make this a healthy and happy summer with programs designed to keep kids engaged, active, and inspired. This summer, kids ages 9–12 can join Art for Wellness on Monday, June 1, July 6, and August 3, for creative, mindful art activities that encourage self-expression and emotional wellness in a fun and welcoming environment. Registration is required so head over here!
We’ll also be offering Learn to Play: Calisthenics on Tuesday, July 7, 14, 21, and 28, where kids can jump, move, stretch, and build confidence through active play and beginner-friendly fitness activities. Registration is not required, just show up!
No matter what your summer looks like, finding ways to stay active, creative, and connected can make the season even more meaningful. Here’s to a summer filled with movement, laughter, good health, and lots of fun in the sunshine!
